Some ideas I’ve been working on. The studies are done on a heavy weight paper with acrylic paints. The diptych is acrylics on canvas. Last time I used acrylics is before under grad school! My painting professor had suggested I change to oils. I’m glad I did. I thought It’d be a little challenge for me. It was. The oils allow for blending so much better; acrylics dry so fast! Anyway, I’ve started on a 48″ x 36″ or 122cm x 91.44cm canvas in the garage. The weather has been wonky here, single digits in early December now in 50’s to 30’s. I have a space heater I can use so it hasn’t been bad. FYI, acrylics are like oils the more expensive the better quality. I bought some at the local craft store, the cheapest I could find. Since I was doing studies, it didn’t matter that much, right? Yes, actually, it did. Some were watered down so that I had to apply 3 and 4 layers to get an opaque color. So I went the other way and bought some Sennelier ones! Made all the difference in the world! Studies are 28cm x 25.4 cm and diptych is 61cm x 30.5 cm each. I had to shoot the pic of the diptych on a slight angle so it looks off kilter. FYI again, i used a different way to post pictures. If you hover cursor over paintings you get title and measurements in inches!
