I have been thinking of  new subject matter for awhile.  Soon after Katrina hit I visited my mom and helped her with the ruined house that was once her home and my childhood home.  I remember the silence and the green of the oak tree leaves.  I took a lot of photos of the trees around the house on Burbank (along with many of the inside). For a long time I could not look at the photos without getting upset but I’m ok now. ( they are actual photos, probably one of the last ones I took with my 35mm camera!)

I see live oak trees every day I drive through City Park. Their limbs remind me of the twisting brushstrokes of my angel series. There are probably as many tree paintings as their are flower ones but I don’t care. I’m going to paint them anyway.
